Skater XL - The Ultimate Skateboarding Game PC ...

It's been 10 long years since the gaming landscape has been blessed with a high-profile skateboard game (no, the atrocity that is Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 doesn't count), and developer Easy Day Studios looks to fill that void with Skater XL. The skate title aims to bring the sport back to the video game spotlight via an innovative and fun control scheme that ditches programmed tricks for a unique, physics-based control setup. This PC game gives you the freedom to explore moves similar to a real-world skateboard session, but that's about it. Skater XL is less a game and more a skateboarding sandbox; there are no high scores or HORSE games here. If you're fine with simply mastering tricks and levels, Skater XL may prove a compelling purchase, but be aware that the game has some rough edges.

Skater XL - The Ultimate Skateboarding Game PC ...

Likewise, the skating locales have grown from just two to eight. They include the developer-created California Skatepark, Downtown Los Angeles, The Big Ramp, Easy Day High School, and West L.A. Courthouse, as well as the community-created Grant Park, Hudland, and Streets. Sadly, these maps are devoid of any other in-game character besides your skater, which gives the game a lifeless vibe. Worse, sometimes your skater will clip through the ground or a building, giving the game an amateurish feel.

Skater XL doesn't offer much to do other focus on tricks. The current build lacks goals, so there's not much "game" in the game, at the moment. It would be nice to chase a high score or play a game of HORSE, as one could do in the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. The game's development team has stated that "the core of the gameplay is designed more as a creative tool than a traditional video game with pre-set challenges to complete." In other words, Skater XL is a place where you go to cruise and practice tricks, tricks, and more tricks. It's more like real-life skateboarding, in that way.

Developer Easy Day Studios has plans for a skill tree and an "aspirational aspect of multiplayer that's not there yet." Unfortunately, one cannot judge a game on its future potential, only as it is at the moment. You're be better off waiting for the upcoming skateboarding title Session or Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 Remaster.

Experience unparalleled board control and responsiveness while you skate iconic real-world skate spots. This is the evolution of skateboarding gameplay. With Independent Foot Control and unique physics-based gameplay, skate gamers finally have the expressive controls they have always dreamed of.

Easy Day Studios' skateboarding sim, Skater XL, is to become one of the first console games to allow "true cross-platform modding" when it initiates its integration in December 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC versions of the game. Check out the initiative's announcement trailer above.

From the people who brought you Skater, which reached #1 sports game world-wide for mobile, Skater XL is an evolution in skateboarding games. Experience unparalleled board control and responsiveness while you skate legendary real-world skate spots. Style your tricks the way you want, from the way you flip the board to the way you move your feet. Feel connected to your board like never before.

It will be especially fun for a skater who understands how tricks are technically arranged and how to hit the board so that it spins into the desired trick. You can, of course, rotate the sticks randomly and still, something will work out, but this game is not about that.

The game is in Early Access (scheduled for July 28, 2020). There are 2 official maps and some blank items and customization boards available. But there are mods (which, by the way, became very easy to install in the latest build) for maps (even real street spots and skate parks), for clothes and boards, and whatever your heart desires. we personally made ourselves a mod so that there was a board like ours in real life.On release, they will add a few about skaters and branded items. More maps, etc.

All the way back in August 2019, I posted an article about two competing skateboarding games. Session and SkaterXL both gave hope to many who thought skateboarding games were completely dead. The similarities between the two were numerous, however, and ultimately they were bound to be compared to one another, even more so than any previous competing games about skateboarding.

Updated on January 4, 2023, by Sam Hallahan: With some classics, some modern, and plenty of refreshing experiences floating around with more on the horizon - cough, skate., cough - skateboarding games are more popular than ever. Sure, the '90s and early 2000s were prime for the genre and specifically Tony Hawk games, but there's something for everyone out there nowadays. Here are some more of the best skateboarding games available.

Tony Hawk games are going to pop up multiple times when looking at skateboarding titles, but which ones are the question. American Wasteland is by no means the most popular, but it's a great game that is just as much silly fun as the rest of them. There is a BMX in the game too, which is pretty fun, but this here is a skateboarding list.

The skateboarding is pretty similar to the rest of the Tony Hawk games, as they generally share mechanics. The maps are fun to explore though, and there's a lot to get lost in. Also, the BMX is great, so chuck that board and use that sometimes.

The Tony Hawk series of skating games is the biggest one around. The series dominated consoles in the late '90s and into the '00s, offering an intense arcade experience like no other. The games varied greatly, with some being straightforward skateboarding, and others being a little more on the silly side.

From the people who brought you the #1 sports game world-wide for mobile, Skater XL is an evolution in skateboarding games. Experience unparalleled board control and responsiveness while you skate legendary real-world skate spots.

"Drifting with Maxwell Cat The Game" is a skateboarding game featuring meme characters navigating obstacle-filled levels. Customize your skateboard and pull off stunts to earn points. With vibrant art and intuitive controls, it's a fun arcade game for all skill levels.

The acclaimed skateboarding game comes to PC! Complete over 100 challenges and countless combos across real-world, iconic destinations or chill out and ride at your own pace with Endless Skate. Then, share your best 2.5D skate runs from every angle with our multi camera in-game recording tools.

Every button press and movement lands exactly as you want it to, ensuring you always feel in control of your combos and, ultimately, at fault when you bail. This one is a true classic, and easily one of the best PC games you can throw your time into.

It also shares a particular spirit with other skating games in embracing the spirit of youth culture and rebellion. You play as an inline skater who tags a fictional version of Tokyo with graffiti while gliding away from figures of authority. Stringing all this together is the DJ of the Jet Set Radio pirate radio station, who broadcasts a thumping soundtrack to you. When you tune in, expect music that combines everything from J-pop and hip-hop to funk and electronic dance.

Arguably the most chill game on this list, Skate City takes players on a journey through Oslo, Barcelona, and Los Angeles for the perfect skate session. In this 2.5D skateboarding game, players can spend hours jamming to lo-fi beats as they make their way through each city. Though Skate City was originally made for the iPhone, pulling off tricks with a flick of your joystick feels perfect for a game like this.

If you want all the thrills of skateboarding without any of the unnecessary fluff, The Ramp is the game for you. Created by just one developer, The Ramp is a bite-sized skateboarding experience that places you in a bowl with very little guidance.

Other skateboarding games followed, and despite the genre nearly drying up by 2019, there are now plenty of fantastic skating games to enjoy across a variety of consoles. Now is the perfect time to freshen up on the genre, too, with the impending remake of the first two Tony Hawk games. 041b061a72
