Bubble Bobble \/\/TOP\\\\
Bubble Bobble[a] is a 1986 platform game developed and published by Taito for arcades. It was distributed in the United States by Romstar, and in Europe by Electrocoin. Players control Bub and Bob, two dragons that set out to save their girlfriends from a world known as the Cave of Monsters. In each level, Bub and Bob must defeat each enemy present by trapping them in bubbles and popping, who turn into bonus items when they hit the ground. There are 100 levels total, each becoming progressively more difficult.
Bubble Bobble
Bubble Bobble was designed by Fukio "MTJ" Mitsuji. When he joined Taito in 1986, he felt that Taito's game output was of mediocre quality. In response, he decided to make a game that was fun to play and could rejuvenate the company's presence in the industry. Mitsuji hoped his game would appeal to women, specifically couples that visited arcades. As such, he decided to make Bubble Bobble focus largely on its two player co-operative mode. He made bubbles the core mechanic as he thought they would be a fun element that girls would enjoy.
In the game, each player controls one of the two dragons. Players can move along platforms, fall to lower ones, and jump to higher ones and over gaps. Each level is limited to a single screen, with no left/right scrolling; however, if a screen has gaps in its bottom edge, players can fall through these and reappear at the top. Each level has a certain number of enemies that must be defeated in order to advance. The players must blow bubbles to trap the enemies, then burst these bubbles by colliding with them. Each enemy defeated in this manner turns into a food item that can be picked up for extra points. Defeating multiple enemies at once awards higher scores and causes more valuable food items to appear. All bubbles will float for a certain length of time before bursting on their own; players can jump on these and ride them to otherwise inaccessible areas. Magic items appear from time to time and grant special abilities and advantages when picked up. Special bubbles occasionally appear that can be burst to attack enemies with fire, water, or lightning. Furthermore, if a player collects letter bubbles to spell the word EXTEND, a bonus life is earned and both players immediately advance to the next level.
Bubble Bobble is a platform game, with each level being a single screen. The enemies must be cleared from a level to go to the next one. With one player controlling Bub and the other controlling Bob, the player can jump and collect items for points (such as fruit). The real power Bub and Bob have however is the ability to blow bubbles. These bubbles can be as platforms to leap on, or to trap enemies. Enemies trapped in a bubble must be popped by jumping into them, wherein they'll turn to fruit. Additionally, power-ups sometimes float by in bubbles. They include lightning, which flies out horizontally at enemies, and water, which drags the player and enemies straight down flowing over platforms. Taking too long to complete any level will summon Baron Von Blubba, who will float around the screen trying to destroy the player.
Bub and Bob, the two small brontosaurus from next door are really angry. Indeed a meanie has kidnapped their two girlfriends and hides them in an underwater cave. The two now need to go through exactly 100 of such caves until they have wrestled their brontosaurus females from the hands of the evil Baron of Blubba. In each of the 100 caves different monsters are about. When touching a monster the two lose one of their lives. Fortunately, the brontosaurus have the peculiar ability to make stunningly big bubbles unter water. If they can enclose a monster in such a bubble and let the bubble burst, the monster is knocked out. It then turns into a bonus item, which you should collect as fast as possible to get points. Every now and then also other items appear, extra symbols which cause strange effects when collected. They may cause a saurus to walk much faster or to make bubbles faster, the whole cave to turn into bonus items, the saurus are placed into another cave or they are just bonus points. After a certain playing time, if not all monsters are caught, the chief monster "Baron of Blubba" appears. You should not take too much time to clean the level.
Two of the game's end-of-level bubble drops are unused. The graphics for these items were overwritten sometime in development, so they now use the Red Crown / Level 50 Door item graphics.Put this code in MAME's bublbobl.xml cheat file to make these items drop:
Bubble Bobble is the story of two humans, Bub and Bob who wander into the mysterious cave of monsters and magically turn into dinosaurs. The only way to transform back is to reach the end of the cave...Bubble Bobble is a platform game, with each level being a single screen. The gameplay remains very similar; you play as Bub, Bob, or one of two new characters and jump around platforms, capturing enemies by blowing bubbles at enemies. Once encased in the bubble, the enemies and any other bubbles you blow float around screen following wind patterns. You can then burst the bubbles to kill the enemies, but the idea is the pop more than one at a time to create a chain and get a higher score.
The game is more like a traditional platformer rather than an arcade title, as levels require you to follow a set path to reach all the enemies. However, the level design is also very confusing. You can now only jump through certain platforms, and the game introduces spikes later on which will, of course, pop bubbles. Fooled you! Bubbles actually happily float straight through spikes, and they only kill cute green dinosaurs and their friends. Enemy patterns are also pretty basic, as many of the bad guys just stay completely still and wait for you to bubble them.
You need to clear out all enemies of a stage before you can proceed to the next level, and each world has a boss at the end, which gets progressively more difficult. After you defeat a boss, you unlock a new power-up skill that can be equipped before you begin the next world, and these include skills like Long Shot (blow bubbles farther), Lightning Bubble, Bomb Bubbles, and more. If you collect all of the hidden letters in each world (they spell out "EXTEND"), then you level up the skill you have equipped.
There are two different control schemes for the game, but they're both pretty easy and it just depends on your preference. Just move around with the left joystick, and you jump with the X or B buttons in Type A, or Y or A in Type B. Shoot bubbles with the Y or A buttons in Type A controls, or X and B in Type B. Activate your equipped special ability with the L or R shoulder buttons.
Bubble Bobble follows two humans who have been transformed into dragons named Bub and Bob. The must progress through various mazes capturing enemies within bubbles and then popping said bubbles. A sequel to this game was later released as Rainbow Islands: The Story of Bubble Bobble 2.
The gameplay is similar to Bubble Bobble Part 2 for Famicom and Bubble Bobble 2 for arcade. The game consists of 10 worlds divided into 5 levels each one, with a boss in the fifth level. You can select a character from the 4 playable ones like the arcade game and like the Famicom game holding the button for shooting bubbles will make Bub or Pab inflate like balloons, while Crayon Shin-Chan use one of his toy helmets and Doraemon use the hopter for fly.
If you aren't familiar with the title, you'll take control of a dragon named Bub through loads of game stages. Here, you will burst and blow bubbled to navigate through the various obstacles in the level.
The classic arcade action remains as fun as ever, especially in two-player co-op. Having a partner to team up with, as you bubble monsters and pop them (hopefully in sync), leads to laughter and smiles. This game has four-player co-op (local only) as well, which is nothing new to the series.
Bubble dragon brothers Bub and Bob are back, lovingly rerendered for an epic, bubble-popping adventure where a variety of bright, vibrantly animated environments bring the captivating world of Puzzle Bobble to life.
Bubble Bobble Evolution takes the classic platforming gameplay that defined the originals and expands it into entirely new realms by injecting all manner of innovations, from new bubble types to new environmental hazards and puzzle elements. Its Story Mode retells the classic story of two human brothers trapped in bubble-blowing dinosaur bodies by an evil nemesis, only this time the action takes place in two "Towers of Entertainment", cylindrical sections of which form the game's levels.
Contained within these screens are the basic elements of Bubble Bobble gameplay: The monsters and the bubbles. However, progress is no longer a simple issue of dispatching the wandering monsters to advance onward.
Everything required to solve these tasks is available on the three screens that make up each level. With the addition of these puzzle elements - which can be manipulated in bubbles and nudged along the level's natural air currents - the development team is introducing radical additions to the classic Bubble Bobble design to bring the franchise up to date. 041b061a72
